BOCC Adopts $2.5 Billion Operating Budget for FY2025

The FY2025 operating budget totals $2.5 billion, an increase of $140 million or 5.9% over the current FY2024 operating budget. The budget sets a property tax rate of 48.31 cents per $100 of assessed valuation. That represents a one-cent increase in the tax rate that was previously scheduled to fund the Capital Improvement Plan adopted last year.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day: Walk to Build Support for Elders

Mecklenburg County residents are invited to join their neighbors from across the community to support our elders and those who care for them on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Age-Friendly Mecklenburg, AARP Charlotte, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of N.C. are co-hosting a walk and wearing purple to raise awareness of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of older persons. The walk will be held June 4, 2024 at Freedom Park beginning at 9 a.m.
