Provides plan review, permitting and evaluation of restaurants, temporary food services, meat markets, hotels, hospitals, nursing homes, child care centers, and schools and investigates child led poisoning cases. 

Provides plan review, permitting and evaluation of onsite wastewater (septic) systems and private wells and reduces exposure to contaminated groundwater.  

Provides permitting and evaluation of tattoo artists and assists with control of mosquitos and rodents.

Provides commercial plan review, permitting and evaluation of Environmental Health regulated services. Provides new hire training program.

Preventing the spread of disease and promoting personal safety through proper sanitation, safe food, clean water, the management of disease-carrying pests and proper disposal of waste.

Provides plan review, permitting, and evaluation of child care and adult day service centers, family child care homes, lodging establishments, public and private school buildings, care institutions (nursing homes, hospitals, assisted-living facilities), residential care and local confinement facilities, and mental health, disability, and substance abuse facilities.  

Reviews and grants approval for plans to construct and operate any new or remodeled establishment. 

Resiliency in Communities After Stress and Trauma II (ReCAST II) is a 4 year grant funded program through Mecklenburg County Public Health. This grant funding is provided by the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration, also known as SAMHSA, and will be active from December of 2022 - December of 2026.
