Code officials answer your code questions and offer guidance as you try to plan your project from conception to submittal. 

New construction, remodels and additions for single-family, two-family or townhomes three stories or fewer, plus small project multi-trade additions, remodels increasing heated square footage, accessory buildings and structures.

Scheduled plan review, assemblies 99,999 sq. ft. or less, commercial 299,999 sq. ft. or less, existing CMS schools including additions and remodels, charter and private schools, institutional 99,999 sq. ft. or less, mixed use 199,999 sq. ft. or less, multifamily residential four stories or less.

Small commercial interior renovations 10,000 sq. ft. or less with use and occupancy classifications of business (B), mercantile (M) or storage (S); new construction or additions 400 sq. ft. or less for B, M, or S occupancies; covered open-air structures 750 sq. ft. or less (ex., picnic shelters); modular office trailers 1,000 sq. ft. or less, equipment change-outs requiring plan review.

Charlotte Works is the workforce development board for Mecklenburg County. This nonprofit connects job seekers and employers, and provides skills training and work opportunities for youth and adults. 

All commercial and residential plan reviews are processed through the code enforcement division.
