The Office of Economic Development is the lead organization responsible for recruiting and retaining businesses, stimulating small business vitality and promoting Mecklenburg County. It has accomplished this through partnerships with business resource providers and community organizations as well as the seven communities that comprise Mecklenburg County.

The Mecklenburg County Office of the Tax Collector is responsible for administering and collecting ad valorem (property) and gross receipt taxes (business). In addition, the office advertises, bills, collects and processes approved special assessments across the County (the City of Charlotte, the towns of Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill, Pineville and unincorporated areas).
