The Department of Financial Services is responsible for capital and debt planning, investments, accounting, payroll, grant management and payables. In addition, it provides fiscal support to departments across the County.

Responsible for the financial reporting process, the system of internal control, the audit process and Mecklenburg County's process for monitoring compliance with laws, regulations and the Code of Ethics.

Michael Griswold is the director of the Office of Strategy and Innovation.

The Office of Strategy & Innovation is a division of the Mecklenburg County Manager’s Office. The division is responsible for developing and managing the County’s corporate strategic business plan, coordinating with department directors on strategic planning, managing the annual Employee Climate Survey and assisting with other internal priorities throughout the organization.  

Strategic Planning and Evaluation is a division of the Mecklenburg County Manager’s Office. The Mecklenburg County Fire Marshal's Office provides a variety of administrative and field based public safety services for the Towns of Pineville, Matthews, Mint Hill, Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson, their unincorporated areas, and the Charlotte ETJ, which consists of Steele Creek, West Mecklenburg, Cooks, Long Creek, Carolina and Robinson Fire Protection Districts.

All areas within City of Charlotte limits are protected and serviced by the Charlotte Fire Department.

The Fire Marshal's Office conducts new construction and recurring code mandated fire inspections for all occupancies, except for single and two-family residential dwellings.

The Mecklenburg County Fire Marshal's Office is the designated agency authorized to conduct fire and/or explosion origin and cause investigations within Mecklenburg County jurisdiction, and services the towns of Pineville, Matthews, Mint Hill, Huntersville, Cornelius, and Davidson.

We also provide investigation services in the Charlotte ETJ, (Extraterritorial Jurisdiction), which consists of the Steele Creek, West Mecklenburg, Long Creek, Cooks, Robinson, and Carolina Fire Protection Districts.
