Applications are now open for Mecklenburg County’s Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP).

Mecklenburg County taxpayers who have yet to pay their 2025 property tax bill may see a postcard in their mailbox soon. The Office of the Tax Collector is mailing postcards on Dec. 5 to remind and encourage taxpayers to remit their tax payments to avoid delinquency. 

Mecklenburg County officially reopened Albemarle Park on Thursday, celebrating extensive renovations and investments at the park located in east Charlotte. Community members are invited to visit Albemarle Park and enjoy its new amenities.  

The Catherine M. Wilson Center lobby at 301 Billingsley Road will close to the public on Dec. 31. 

Nominations are open for the 2026 Crowns of Enterprise Awards, sponsored by Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte.

Last week, County Manager Mike Bryant, in collaboration with Charlotte City Manager Marcus Jones and CMS Superintendent Dr. Crystal Hill convened a group of local and regional partners from the public and private sector to strengthen cross-sector collaboration and collective impact.

JGA Space & Defense, formerly Joe Gibbs Manufacturing Solutions, will expand its operations in Huntersville beginning in 2026, creating approximately 40 new jobs next year and anticipating an investment of more than $25 million in northern Mecklenburg County.

Mecklenburg County and its partners will light up the 21st annual Domestic Violence Memorial Tree to commemorate the lives lost this year to domestic violence in the county and across North Carolina.
