Temperatures outside are dropping and heating bills are rising. But support is available to help households with their energy bills.

As of Sept. 1, 2022, Mecklenburg County Public Health (MCPH) will pause giving COVID-19 booster doses to anyone 12 or older because updated boosters of the vaccines are expected next week.

Communities In Schools of Charlotte-Mecklenburg (CIS-Charlotte) provides students in grades K-12 in selected Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) with additional support and resources to help them be successful inside and outside the classroom.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management Office, Mecklenburg County, the City of Charlotte, and the American Red Cross are activating an emergency shelter in response to forecasted extreme winter weather and the state of emergency declared across the county. 

Periods of heavy rain are expected for the next several days, combined with saturated ground and elevated creek levels, and flooding risks have increased.

Canadian-based AVL Manufacturing will open its first U.S.-based mobile machine manufacturing plant in Charlotte, creating more than 325 new jobs and investing more than $56 million in the Steele Creek submarket.
