​Mecklenburg County would like residents’ participation in the review of the 2023-2024 Annual Action Plan (2023-2024 AAP) for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.

​Approximately 42,000 Mecklenburg County property owners who have delinquent 2022 real and personal property tax bills will have their names and the principal amount they owe published, as required by state law, in The Charlotte Observer, on Sunday, April 2, 2023.

Public Health officials are alerting residents to take caution while enjoying the weather to prevent mosquito-borne illness.

In response to extreme weather, forecasted through Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, an activation of extreme weather protocols will begin today at 6 p.m., and includes expanded hours of operation and additional capacity at area homeless shelters. 

Mecklenburg County residents are invited to participate in a public hearing to help shape the Community Development Block Grant Program’s (CDBG) 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan and 2025-2026 Annual Action Plan.

Preparations are underway for the 2026 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count and Mecklenburg County is seeking volunteers and other resources to help ensure everybody counts.

Mecklenburg County was included in the Federal declared disaster for Hurricane Helene. As part of this declaration, voluntary Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funding has been made available through FEMA and the State of North Carolina for both buy-outs and elevation projects.
