Today, Gov. Roy Cooper and County leaders announced the expansion of LendingTree’s headquarters in Mecklenburg County. This expansion will bring 436 new jobs to Mecklenburg County over the next five years. The average annual salary of the new positions will be $101,140 and will vary depending on the position and experience.
This growth will be an addition to the existing 488 jobs at the company’s current headquarters in Charlotte. The new location of LendingTree’s headquarters has not been finalized. The company has not made an official decision on where they will house the new and current employees. An announcement regarding the address of the new headquarters will be posted once a location has been confirmed.
LendingTree’s expansion in Mecklenburg County was made possible, in part, by a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) approved by the state’s Economic Investment Committee. Over the course of the 12-year grant term, the project will grow the state’s economy by an estimated $969 million.
Mecklenburg County is supporting the investment through a Business Investment Program (BIP) grant of $686,878 over seven years. The County estimates an additional $1.844 million in net revenue over the seven-year grant.
“We are pleased to be able to support the continued growth of LendingTree,” said George Dunlap, chairman of the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners. “The company’s expansion here signifies the strength of the technology industry in Mecklenburg. We are extremely grateful that LendingTree recognizes that Mecklenburg is the right place for them to grow.”
This project is a collaborative effort between the North Carolina Governor’s Office, North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, Mecklenburg County, City of Charlotte, Charlotte Regional Business Alliance, North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina.
