Department of Social Services to Host Town Hall on New NC Medicaid Managed Care

5/5/2021

The Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services (DSS) will host a virtual town hall Friday, May 14, from 10 – 11 a.m., to provide information on the new NC Medicaid Managed Care. The public is invited to attend, specifically residents who are Medicaid beneficiaries.

Effective July 1, 2021 the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) will transition most beneficiaries to the new NC Medicaid Managed Care. Under this format, some Mecklenburg County Medicaid beneficiaries will get the same Medicaid services in a new way - through health plans.

Town hall participants will learn about the available health plans and how they can enroll before the May 15 deadline.

Speakers will include:

- John Eller, Mecklenburg County DSS Director
- Gibbie Harris, Mecklenburg County Public Health Director
- A panel of pre-paid health plan providers:

  • Healthy Blue
  • United Health Care
  • AmeriHealth Caritas
  • Carolina Complete Health
  • WellCare
  • Maximus (North Carolina's Enrollment Broker)
  • Legal Aid (North Carolina's Ombudsman)
