Mecklenburg County would like your participation in the review of the 2020 Citizen Participation Plan and 2019 Annual Action Plan Amendments. In response to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program has notified Mecklenburg County that it will receive an allocation of $467,087 to be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19.This allocation was authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), signed into law on March 27, 2020. Per HUD guidance delivered in response to the CARES Act, Mecklenburg County proposes to amend the Citizen Participation Plan to reduce the public comment period to allow for more rapid response to COVID-19 and eliminate the requirement for in-person public hearings when national/local health authorities recommend social distancing, instead virtual public hearings are proposed. Additionally, the 2019 Annual Action Plan (2019AAP) will be amended to include the CARES Act funding. These amendments are available for public review and comment from May 22 to May 26, 2020.
