Music, games and food are just some of the things residents can enjoy when Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation opens Clarks Creek Community Park this weekend. The 31-acre community park also includes the County’s newest dog park.
The two-day celebration for the park, located at 5435 Hucks Road, Charlotte, includes a dedication ceremony on Friday, May 31 and a grand opening and community kickoff celebration on June 1. Details for both days are below.
Friday, May 31 – 11 a.m. to noon Dedication Ceremony
The dedication ceremony includes:
- Ribbon cutting ceremony
- Brief remarks from BOCC Vice Chair Elaine Powell, Assistant Mecklenburg County Manager Leslie Johnson, PRC Chair Heidi Pruess, and Park and Recreation Director W. Lee Jones
Saturday, June 1 – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Grand Opening and Community Kickoff Celebration
Bring the entire family and enjoy everything the new park has to offer. Festivities include:

- Vendors
- Food trucks (food available for purchase)
In addition to a dog park, Clarks Creek Community Park features a playground, pickleball and basketball sport courts, a community garden, a loop trail system, a sprayground, restrooms and a small shelter. The park is located across the street from Clarks Creek Nature Preserve.
