Metropolitan Public Transportation Authority

Applications will be accepted through Oct. 13.

Mecklenburg County is accepting applications for the proposed Metropolitan Public Transportation Authority (MPTA) through Oct. 13, 2025. The MPTA would finance, operate, and maintain a safe, clean, affordable and energy-efficient public transportation system for Mecklenburg County. The activation of the MPTA will rest on the outcome of the Nov. 4 referendum on a proposed additional countywide 1% sales tax dedicated to transportation projects.
