Senior Games

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Senior Games

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is in the process of planning 2022 local senior games. At this time we are determining the safest way to offer the games 2022 Spring and Summer while reserving locations and dates for many events. Please keep checking this website or the Senior Games hotline at 980-314-1328 for the latest details when they are ready to publish. See you in the games!

Senior Games was established to promote health and wellness for persons 50 and better.  Senior Games provides a forum to meet new people, enjoy healthy competition, be creative and most importantly to HAVE FUN!  Senior Games is NO
T what you do compared to someone else, but what YOU do compared to what you are capable of doing.

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation could not offer the local Senior Games without the support and guidance of host and Coordinating Agencies:
  • Alexander Graham Middle School
  • Bowlero (Park 10 Lanes)
  • Charlotte Motor Speedway
  • First United Methodist Church
  • Levine Senior Center
  • Matthews Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department
  • Mecklenburg Wildlife Club
  • Monroe Country Club
  • Pineville Park & Recreation
  • Queens University
  • Rack'em Pub & Billiards
  • Southminster

Why Senior Games?

  • To participate in health and wellness activities.
  • To meet new people with an interest in leading a healthy and active lifestyle.
  • To have an opportunity to compete.
  • To encourage and expand creative skills through SilverArts.
  • To be involved.
  • To have FUN, FUN, FUN!

Who Is Eligible?

Mecklenburg County Senior Games holds athletic and artistic competitions in April through June of each year.  Participants must be 50 years of age or better and must reside in North Carolina at least 3 consecutive months of the year.  Registration forms must be postmarked by March 11 to participate.

Get Involved!

Senior Games is a wonderful experience.  Everyone knows someone who is 50 or better who could benefit from participating in Senior Games.  Keep in mind, you don't have to be an athlete to be involved!
Individuals compete for awards in their own SEX and AGE CATEGORY within five year increments. (50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-99, 100+)

Other Ways to be Involved:
Be a Volunteer - MCSG needs over 100 volunteers during the games.  There are many ways to volunteer.  To learn more about volunteering for the games, contact volunteerservices@mecknc.gov.

Be a Spectator - We are proud of the athletic and artistic achievements of the MCSG participants.  Come view their artwork or cheer as they "GO FOR THE GOLD!"

Host a Presentation - If your organization would like to learn more about Senior Games, please leave a message at 980-314-1328 or email seniorgames@mecknc.gov.  A speaker from MCSG will come to your group meeting and talk about the great opportunities offered by Senior Games and SilverArts.  This is a great presentation for a  luncheon gathering; MCSG can provide a short program with event examples.
