Please note: Criminal record checks are to be conducted on all applicants over the age of 16 before enrolling in our volunteer program. Volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult that is at least 21 years old. Volunteers working in the Therapeutic Recreation Division must be at least 18 years old.

3/2/2021A WALK IN THE PARK Cleanups

Sign up today to help keep your favorite Park or Greenway clean and healthy by picking up trash! A great way to spend an hour at lunchtime on Tuesdays, 11:00am-12:00, getting outdoors and helping in your community. REGISTER AT THIS LINK:

Park & Recreation Volunteers: SPRING WALK IN THE PARK CLEANUPS

DATES: Every Tuesday beginning March 2, 2021!

​- Registration is limited to 20 Volunteers per date EVERY VOLUNTEER MUST PRE-REGISTER!

- Volunteers should plan to bring their own work gloves, face coverings and water supply – All current distancing and health directives will be followed.

- An email will be sent to all Volunteers the day before the cleanup date, with details about parking, what to bring, what to wear, etc. *Cleanup/Parking locations subject to change!

- Volunteers should be at least 10 years old; anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 21 years old.

4/1/2021Youth Baseball Coaches

Program introduces the fundamentals of Baseball or Tee ball, and provides youth with an opportunity for building sportsmanship while engaging in a SAFE, FAIR, FUN and positive sport environment based on mutual respect.

Qualifications: Age 18 and over; great with kids, must have knowledge of the sport or willingness to learn. Background screening required.

Must be available to meet once or twice a week for practice, and on Friday evenings or Saturdays for games - All games are at Revolution Park Fields.

IMPORTANT: Registration for Spring sports ends on March 23 – YOU MUST HAVE YOUR APPLICATION AND BACKGROUND CHECK APPROVAL COMPLETED NO LATER THAN March 23!

Coach will provide leadership and guidance, physical training, and instruction in the fundamentals of baseball/tee ball for all players. Coach is expected to follow the Youth Sports Program Philosophy based on: "Everyone Plays;" building teams that are balanced in age and experience; Positive Coaching to build players' sense of self-worth; and Sportsmanship.

Park & Recreation provides: Coach training and National Association of Youth Sports (NAYS) certification for head coaches; additional in-house training for ALL coaches and assistant coaches; coach shirts and any additional equipment needed.  

*Roster and rule modifications have been made to ensure we continue to follow the CDC and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services guidelines for COVID 19.  Extra safety precautions established for the Fall 2020 season will continue to be followed to provide sanitation measures and proper social distancing.
