E-Gaming (For ages 13+ with a disability)

Grab your red shells and let's race! Gamers will socialize, throw lightning, and drive underwater to earn their gamer cred. All participants much have a Nintendo Switch or Switch Lite system, Game: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, internet access, and Nintendo Switch Online membership. Social Squad (For ages 18+ with a disability)

Virtual Cooking (For ages 13+ with a disability)

Cooking class is staying virtual this fall! From an easy recipe, we will make and eat lunch together, as well as talk about cooking skills and healthy eating habits. Each participant will receive the grocery list ahead of time and can purchase their own ingredients. We'll meet on Tuesdays, Sept 6-Oct 25 from 10:00a-12:00p via Zoom. Free.

Hybrid Programs ($)

For hybrid programs, the program will meet in a physical building, or you have the option to attend virtually from home. The cost is the same, regardless of if you choose to attend the program in person or virtually. Virtual participants are responsible for obtaining their own supplies or equipment needed for the program, but staff can assist with equipment modifications if requested. Virtual participants will log on via Zoom. A Zoom link will be sent out before the start of the program.

Cardio Drumming (For ages 16+ with a disability)

Drumming with a twist! -- all skill levels are welcome as we learn drumming techniques, drum to music on exercise balls, and interact with drumming activities. We'll meet on Thursdays, Sept 8-Oct 27, from 3:30-4:30p at Marion Diehl Recreation Center (2219 Tyvola Road). The class is HYBRIDwhich allows participants to choose whether to attend class in person, or log on from home virtually. $50 Resident/$60 Non-Resident Fee

Pop Yoga (For ages 18+ with a disability)

Take a second out of your day to relax! We are adding a new twist to yoga. Find your inner peace with yoga through relaxing stretches and poses while listening to your favorite pop hits! Adaptive Kayaking Club (For ages 16+ with a disability)

Meet us at Latta Nature Preserve for 3 evenings of adventure on Mountain Island Lake. This program will be geared towards beginners, as we introduce participants to their kayak and paddle, as well as learn this skills for paddling and maneuvering around the lake. A variety of adaptive equipment is available for use, but dress appropriately for the weather and water. We'll meet on Wednesdays, from 5:00-7:00p at Latta Nature Preserve Noth Canoe Launch (6211 Sample Rd, Huntersville)$60 Resident/$72 Non-Resident Fee

Audio Based Orienteering (For ages 10-15 who are blind/have a visual impairment)

Meet us at some of Mecklenburg County's best parks to navigate an orienteering course via 3D audio provided by the Microsoft Soundscape application! Bring your iPhone & wear comfortable shoes, as we hike to numerous waypoints within each course on the trail. Participants can bring any adaptive equipment they need for assistance, ie: headphones, white cane, service animal etc. Participants will be provided with a sighted guide (or bring their own) to accompany them for safety purposes. We'll meet on Saturdays, 9/10, 9/17, 10/15 and 10/22 from 10:00-11:00a at James Boyce Park or Hornet's Nest Park. $25 Resident/$30 Non-Resident Fee

Basic Bites (For ages 13+ with a disability)

Want to learn how to make dessert nachos, acai bowls, pancakes, and more? Join us for a beginner's food class for participants 13+ with a disability. Bike Riders (For ages 7+ with a disability)

Come learn the skills to ride a bike! During this program, participants of all ages with disabilities (7+) will be scheduled for a 30 minute session to work 1:1 with TR Staff on developing balance, steering, peddling and other essential skills to have fun and safely learn to ride a bike. We'll meet on Saturday, Sept 17 and/or Oct 15 from 1:00-3:00p at Second Ward Gymnasium (710 East Martin Luther King Jr Blvd). Boccia (Ages 13+ with a disability)

The object of boccia is to throw/roll a game ball closest to the target ball. Join us to learn skills, drills and to practice against your friends.

Canvas Kids (For ages 5-12 of all abilities)

Join us for an 8-week art program for children ages 5-12 with all ability levels! We will create brand new masterpieces each week on a blank canvas. We will learn different styles of art and learn how to unleash our inner artist. Challenger Flag Football  

Challenger Flag Football is a partnership with Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, Pop Warner and the Carolina Panthers. The CFF league gives participants with a disability the opportunity to improve sportsmanship, experience teamwork, and enjoy football.

Youth (Ages 7-12 with a disability)

We'll play football on Saturdays mornings from 9:00-10:00am, Sept 10-Oct 29 at the Adaptive Field at Marion Diehl Park (2229 Tyvola Road). FREE! A doctor's form is required and available online or from staff.

Let's get pumped! Designed for all fitness levels and abilities, join us to learn weight-training, strengthening, and core fitness skills from a Certified Personal Trainer! Each session will last 45 minutes within the 12:00-3:00 pm time frame. Come cheer with us this season! We have the pom poms & the uniforms, all we need is you! This year game days will be a new & fun experience!
