The mission of Park & Recreation's Division of Nature Preserves and Natural Resources Division is to protect the region's biodiversity and natural heritage by promoting open space preservation, conserving natural communities, and fostering awareness and stewardship through environmental education and outdoor recreation.
Mecklenburg County manages over 7,600 acres of nature preserves throughout the county. We offer four natures, each of which offers environmental education programming and general visitor information.
