Parking Information

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, Dilworth Little League and Charlotte Jr. Soccer are working together to improve parking and traffic issues at Freedom Park during Saturday athletic events.

For patrons wishing to visit the park during this time for non athletic events and activities, we ask for patience as events do generate increased traffic.

We encourage patrons to also consider visiting  one of several nearby parks, including Latta, Edgehill and Sedgefield parks.

Freedom Park Master Gardener Demonstration Garden

The Freedom Park Master Gardener Demonstration Garden is located near the Mahlon Adams Pavilion at Cumberland and Lilac Avenues, Charlotte NC -  near the parking area.

The mature garden features shade and sun garden beds with wide grassy paths near the main sidewalks and under the trees in Charlotte's busiest ‘central park’.  Find what grows well in the Piedmont region as tags identify plant names and growing information, making your self-guided tour an informative one.  The gardens make good use of undulating berms, providing structure and distinctly different planting strategies with sun or shade exposures.  Visitors easily view the sunny borders, pollinators paradise and shady gardens filled with native shrubs and perennials, vibrant color schemes and a multi-seasonal display.
