Safe Routes to School (SRTS) encourages communities to create opportunities for children to increase their daily physical activity by safely walking and biking to, from or at school!
Mecklenburg County is home to robust SRTS movements at the local level, with many schools holding regular walking and bicycling events. Our updated SRTS Mecklenburg County Partnership Program provides activities and resources focused on helping students, parents, teachers, staff, volunteers and the community increase the number of children walking or rolling to/from school. We work with partner schools to improve walking and bicycling conditions around schools, all while building healthy habits, safety skills and FUN!
