We work to reduce HIV, syphilis and other sexually transmitted infection by promoting health and enabling individuals and communities to increase control over conditions affecting their health.

If you know to have been exposed to an STD or are experiencing symptoms, please make an appointment for treatment by calling 704-336-6500

​    At Risk for Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)​? 

Prevention Services

    • Free HIV/STD Testing - Currently only provided at Health Department located at 2845 Beatties Ford Road for symptomatic and known contacts to STD and HIV. Please call for an appointment at 704-336-6500.
    • Pre-Exposure Propholaxis (PrEP) - A daily pill that can greatly reduce your risk of getting HIV. Find out how to talk to your doctor or, if you're uninsured, get it for free.
    • HIV/STD Education​​ - Learn about risk factors and how to prevent transmission of HIV and other STDs n our community. Available for community groups in the Mecklenburg County area.

Care Services

    • Sexually Transmitted Disease Treatment - Speak to a clinician if you are experiencing any symptoms or have a recent partner(s) who has tested positive for an STD. Appointment required, call: 704-336-6500.

   Living with HIV?​

    • Case Management - ​We can link you to healthcare and psychosocial services to ensure timely and appropriate level of care.

    • Ryan White Program - Ryan White Care Act funded services are available to HIV-positive residents that meet certain eligibility requirements. Some eligibility requirements include financial limitations or medical criteria.
