Town Hall Meeting on Future of Main Library Set for Nov. 29
The first town hall meeting to gain public input on the future of the Main Library is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 29 beginning at 5 p.m. in the Francis Auditorium of the Main Library.
Attendees will learn about the vision for the library, get a progress report on the project and have the chance to provide feedback.
Due to a very positive response, registration for this meeting is full. However, the Library is still seeking individuals to participate in one-on-one interviews during the day on Nov. 29 and 30. There will be additional opportunities for public engagement over the next few months, including surveys, focus groups and an additional town hall meeting in February.
For more information, or to participate in an interview, contact Shelley Book with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library at email@example.com. Park and Rec to Hold Dedication Ceremony for Eva B. Barber Community Park
County Commissioners are invited to help us celebrate the dedication of the Eva B. Barber Community Park (formerly known as Hoskins Park) on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 1:30 p.m. The park is located at 3801 Gossett Ave.
The renaming of the park was originally presented by the Board during its Aug. 2 meeting as a way to honor Ms. Barber for her service to the community. Over the years, Ms. Barber has served on the Park and Recreation Advisory Council (Northwest Park District), helped secure neighborhood improvement grants, which led to the installment of a volleyball court and community garden at the park, and organized several neighborhood events at the park, including the Hoskins West Fest. Currently, she serves as the president of the Brookfield Neighborhood Association.
In addition to the amenities Ms. Barber helped secure, the 16-acre park includes a multipurpose field, basketball court, picnic shelter, playground and walking trails.
For more information, please contact Park and Recreation Deputy Director Michael Kirschman at 980-314-1014 or Michael.Kirschman@MecklenburgCountyNC.gov. Happy Thanksgiving
