Freedom from domestic violence: A Coordinated Community Response

It is important that our system works faster and better for victims -- that victims are protected and receive the services they need, and that batterers are held accountable and cease their abusive behavior. For this reason,  Mecklenburg County operates under a  coordinated community responsel; a response that engages the entire community in efforts to protect victims and enforce intolerance of domestic violence.

To ensure a consistent implementation of a coordinated and collaborative community response to domestic violence the Domestic Violence Community Leadership Team was created.

Domestic Violence Community Leadership Team (DVCLT) Coordianted Community Response (CCR)

Formed in 2007, the DVCLT CCR is a partnership between government, health and human services providers, educational institutions, the private sector and the faith community that brings together people from diverse backgrounds to: raise awareness about domestic violence, focus on preventing domestic violence, and follow the community domestic violence strategic action plan.

What informs DV CLT's work?

  • Domestic Violence Advisory Council (DVAC) – A domestic violence group that meets monthly, made up of employees from many of the agencies that make up our DV CLT, and is dedicated to eliminating domestic violence in our community through awareness, advocacy, and action. Follow them on Facebook!
