Planning began in early 2013, students grabbed pencils, crayons and paper and put together some very creative renderings.
After the design was finalized, the department dedicated its annual Hats Off to Parks Luncheon and a special jazz concert at Freedom Park to raise money for the effort.
In October 2014, construction began. The department recruited hundreds of volunteers for the build. Some experienced some brand new – all committed to the cause.
