Ramsey Creek Beach on Lake Norman is now closed for the 2021 season.

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation in conjunction with CATS (Charlotte Area Transit System) operates a free shuttle from the CATS Park & Ride lot located at 19752-19758 One Norman Dr., Cornelius NC, 28031. There is no entry fee to the beach area when you take the shuttle.

Rules for Ramsey Creek Beach
  • Enter and exit the beach area through the gate only.  Entering the beach area from the sand or waterline is prohibited.
  • No swimming or beach access when the gate is locked.
  • Caution:  Sand may be hot!
  • Children aged 12 or younger must be supervised by an adult.
  • Beach umbrellas must be less than 6' in diameter.
  • The designated area between the water and lifeguard stands must be kept clear at all times.
  • The beach area may be closed when warranted due to inclement weather or maintenance projects.
  • Kite flying, Frisbees etc. may be restricted by staff due to capacity limits.
  • Small personal coolers and water bottles are permitted.  Food and beverages may only be consumed in designated areas.  No food, drink or trash is permitted within 10' of the water.
  • No climbing on lifeguard stands is permitted.
  • No swimming beyond yellow boundary lines.
  • Do not hang or swim across yellow boundary lines.
  • No diving headfirst into water.
  • Please refrain from throwing rocks and sand.  No digging large, deep holes or mounds is permitted.
  • For your safety, only US Coast Guard-approved floatation devices are permitted.
  • Beach changing is strictly prohibited, including young children and infants.  Public nudity is not allowed in the park or on the beach.
  • Diaper changing on the beach is prohibited.  Please use the restrooms for this purpose.
  • The following are prohibited in the beach area:
    • Alcoholic beverages
    • Illegal drugs
    • Tobacco products
    • Bicycles
    • Inflatable toys
    • Fireworks
    • Open fires
    • Amplified music
    • Animals/pets (with the exception of service animals)
    • Glass containers
    • Tents or other pop-up structures
    • Intoxication
    • Disorderly conduct
    • Fishing
    • Feeding of wildlife
    • Scuba diving
    • Launching of surfboards or personal watercraft
    • Long-distance underwater swimming, hyperventilation, static apnea
