‘NO SWIMMING’ Advisory Lifted for a Cove on Lake Norman

A NO SWIMMING advisory was lifted today for a cove on Lake Norman.

The “No Swimming” advisory was issued on Nov. 1, 2019 following the discharge of an estimated 350 gallons of untreated sewage to a cove on Lake Norman. The discharge was caused by a broken air release valve in Charlotte Water’s sewer system located near 18291 Jetton Road in Cornelius, NC. Repairs were completed and the discharge stopped on Nov. 1, 2019.

Water samples collected by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services’ staff reveal that bacteria counts are within safe limits; therefore, the NO SWIMMING advisory has been lifted.
