Over the next 12-18 months, park visitors at Reedy Creek Park and Nature Preserve will notice trail detours, trail closures and construction throughout the preserve due to a multi-year stream restoration project.
The large project will require the removal of trees along Reedy Creek beginning Nov. 1 and the temporary closure of Sierra Loop, Robinson Rock House and South Fork trails inside the preserve beginning Nov. 7. View the map here.
Signs will be posted throughout the preserve to help guide visitors. Orange construction fencing will be placed near the closed trails. Trails will reopen as soon as possible once construction in these areas has finished.
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services are conducting the stream restoration project to preserve and protect high-quality streams throughout Reedy Creek, stabilize stream bank erosion, restore the floodplains to their natural function and reduce pollution in the creek.
