Beginning Friday, Feb. 12 at 8:30 a.m., additional first dose appointments will be available through Mecklenburg County Public Health (MCPH) for appointment dates Feb. 22 through March 9, 2021.
In January, the County updated its vaccination plan to align with Federal and State recommendations (current guidelines). On Feb.10, the State established a timeline for Group 3 frontline workers becoming eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. As vaccine supply is currently limited, MCPH will continue to follow State guidelines and gradually move into Group 3 vaccine distribution focusing available resources on remaining Groups 1 and 2 and Group 3 pre-K through 12th grade educators, school staff, and childcare providers.
Group 1, healthcare workers with current in-person patient contact and long-term care staff and residents; and Group 2 (residents 65 years or older, regardless of health status or living situation) are encouraged to continue making appointments at any available times.
Group 3 pre-K through 12th grade educators, school staff, and childcare providers are only eligible for appointments between the dates of Feb. 24 and March 9, 2021. They can begin scheduling these appointment dates on Friday, Feb. 12 at 8:30 a.m.
Eligible Group 3 recipients will include staff in childcare centers and homes, head start programs, preschool and pre-k programs, traditional public schools, charter schools and private schools. This includes teachers, custodians, bus drivers, cafeteria workers and any other staff working in those schools.
More information about appointment availability for rest of Group 3 will be released before March 10, 2021. MCPH will continue to provide updates at: mecknc.gov/COVID-19.
