As summer approaches, Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation offers you the chance to cool off at an outdoor pool, sprayground or Ramsey Creek Beach. All will open for the season this Saturday, May 26.
Spraygrounds (FREE) will operate from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Locations include:
Outdoor pools ($1 per person all summer) will operate on a weekend schedule from Saturday, May 26 – Sunday, Sept. 2 and a weekday schedule from Monday, June 11 – Friday, Aug. 24.
Ramsey Creek Beach will be open Memorial Day through Labor Day and operate on a weekend schedule from Saturday, May 26 – Sunday, Sept. 2 and a weekday schedule from Monday, June 11 – Friday, Aug. 24. Beach hours are 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Throughout the summer, a park entrance fee will be collected at Ramsey Creek Park. Beach goers will be able to access the beach at no charge by riding a free shuttle from the Cornelius Park and Ride lot, located at 20300 Sefton Park Road. Free Swim Lessons at the Outdoor Pools Beginning Saturday, June 16, you will be able to sign up your child (ages 3-12) for free swim lessons at either of the outdoor pools. Registration will be taken every Saturday starting at 11 a.m. for the following week only and must be done in person. All reservations are first come, first served.
World’s Largest Swimming Lesson June 21Park and Rec’s Double Oaks Family Aquatic Center will serve as a host site for the 2018 World’s Largest Swimming Lesson on June 21. If your child is interested in participating, please register at Double Oaks, beginning at 9 a.m. Lessons will take place at 10 and 11 a.m.
