Mecklenburg County Manager Among Most Admired CEOs

Dena DiorioThe Charlotte Business Journal has named Mecklenburg County Manager Dena R. Diorio as one of 2020's Most Admired CEOs.

The award recognizes local leaders who have established a vision for their organization, displayed commitment to culture in the workplace, and made outstanding contributions to the community.

Among Diorio's nomination highlights:

  • Opening the first of five planned Community Resource Centers
  • Leading the successful 2019 Property Tax Revaluation
  • Establishing Meck Pre-K for four year olds
  • Adopting and implementing a countywide Equity and Inclusion Initiative that includes training for all 5,600 County employees.

"I believe this recognition represents our entire organization," said Diorio. "While I am certainly honored to receive the award; it's the hard work, commitment and support of County employees—at all levels, every day—that make it possible."

Diorio and the other award winners are featured in the Feb. 12 edition of The Charlotte Business Journal. They were selected by members of the Charlotte Business Journal's editorial team.

She will officially accept the award at the Most Admired CEOs Awards Celebration on Wednesday, March 25. She came to Mecklenburg County as Finance Director in 2007 and became County Manager in January 2014.
