Mecklenburg County Earns Another Emmy Award Nod

Mecklenburg County's Public Information Department has earned another Emmy Award nomination from the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Midsouth Chapter.

Josh King, a Digital Producer in the Public Information Department, learned of the honor during the 36th Midsouth Regional Emmy nomination announcement on Nov. 29, 2021. King was nominated for a collection of different animations he created for various public communication projects over the last year under the "Graphic Arts – Motion Graphics" category.

"Josh absolutely deserves such recognition for his work," said Public Information Director Danny Diehl. "He works diligently to bring the latest media, animation, and graphic arts innovations to his work, which helps us create and craft videos and other tools to communicate information about Mecklenburg County services."

The County previously received two Emmy nominations in 2019 for the Interstitial Programming and Craft Animation categories. Mecklenburg County is the only municipal government in the Midsouth Chapter to be nominated.

Emmy entries are judged by peer professionals from the NATAS chapters of Boston/New England, Chicago/Midwest, Michigan, Suncoast, Rocky Mountain Southwest, and Upper Midwest. The nominees are based solely on their scores, tabulated by the accounting firm of Vaden Group/Elliot Davis. Winners will be announced in February 2022.
