County Announces Closings for Independence Day


American FlagMecklenburg County government offices and agencies will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

This includes all units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Office, Elections Office, the Register of Deeds Office, and the Land Use and Environmental Services Agency (LUESA) Office.

The Department of Social Services Care Line (704-336-CARE or 704-336-2273) operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect of children, the elderly or disabled adults.

The Health Department will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, 2017.

The Main Library and all library branches be closed on Tuesday, July 4, 2017.

Solid Waste administrative offices and all Solid Waste Facilities will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, except the new Compost Central at 140 Valleydale Road. It will be open from 7 a.m.-4 p.m.

The City of Charlotte Solid Waste Services will operate on a regular schedule. If you are in a town, please check with your town for refuse collection schedules.

Park and Recreation administrative offices, along with Recreation and Senior Centers, will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, 2017.

Nature Centers will be open from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. 

The Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center will operate from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., the Marion Diehl Pool from 8 a.m.– 4 p.m. and

Ray’s Splash Planet will be open from 10 a.m. -6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4, 2017.

The Cordelia Outdoor Pool and the new Double Oaks Family Aquatic Center will be open Noon-7p.m.

Ramsey Creek Beach is open from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

Naomi Drenan and Grayson SkatePark will be open on July 4th from 9 a.m. -5 p.m.

As a reminder, CharMeck 311 is open and available to the public Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
