​County Announces Closings for Independence Day


American FlagMecklenburg County government offices and agencies will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2019 for the Independence Day holiday. 

This includes all units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Office, Elections Office, the Register of Deeds Office, and the Land Use and Environmental Services Agency offices.  

The Department of Social Services hotlines operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect. To report abuse of seniors or the disabled, call 704-336-CARE (2273). To report abuse, neglect or human trafficking of children, call 980-31-HELPS (43577).  

The Health Department will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2019. 

The Main Library and all library branches will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2019.

Solid Waste administrative offices facilities and facilities will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2019. The exception is Compost Central at 140 Valleydale Road. It will be open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Park and Recreation administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2019. Recreation and   Senior Centers will be closed. Nature Centers will be open regular hours. 

Ray’s Splash Planet will open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center will  open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cordelia Pool and Double Oaks Family Aquatic Center will be open noon until 7 p.m.   Ramsey Creek Beach will be open 10 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Beach shuttle will operate July 4-7 from Cornelius Park and Ride lot, 20300 Sefton Park Road. Marion Diehl Pool is closed for renovations. 

City of Charlotte Solid Waste Services will provide collection services on a regular schedule the week of July 4, 2019. If you are in a town, please check with your local service for a collection schedule. 

As a reminder, CharMeck 311 is open and available to the public Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
