​County Child Support Services Hosting Virtual Event for Empowering Fathers Program


Mecklenburg County Child Support Services Empowering Fathers Program is hosting a virtual orientation for noncustodial fathers. The event is scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2020 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.     

The transformative event centers around fathers who need assistance navigating the child support system. Topics include child support services and interstate case information. The featured speakers are NC Child Support Director Carla West; Assistant County Manager Anthony Trotman; Department of Community Resources Director Yulonda Griffin; Empowering Fathers Program Vendors: Equus Works and Global Partners for Fathers and Families, and Charles Smith of Charles R. Smith Consulting.   

This is the second virtual event. During the first event in June, fathers learned how to navigate the court system and what wraparound services are available.   

Participants will be able to access the event via video conferencing or by telephone. Registration for the event is available at People who might want to participate are fathers who have an active family court case in North Carolina, Health and Human Service leaders, community partners, non-profit workers, faith-based organization members or members of the public interested in the various topics.     

Child Support Services helps non-custodial fathers find jobs with a living wage. They also provide support with court visits, parenting strategies, keeping positive communications with their children and the custodial parent and more.
