​County Announces Closings for Memorial Day


American flagMecklenburg County government offices and agencies will be closed on Monday, May 27 for the Memorial Day holiday.

This includes all units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Office, Elections Office, the Register of Deeds Office, and the Land Use and Environmental Services Agency offices. 

The Department of Social Services hotlines operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect. To report abuse of seniors or the disabled, call 704-336-CARE (2273). To report abuse, neglect or human trafficking of children, call 980-31-HELPS (43577).  

The Health Department will be closed on Monday, May 27.  

The Main Library and all library branches will be closed on Monday, May 27.

Solid Waste administrative offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, May 27. The exception is Compost Central, which will operate from 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. 

Park and Recreation administrative offices will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2019.  Recreation and Senior Centers will be closed on Monday, May 27. Nature Centers will be open regular hours. 

Mecklenburg County Aquatic facilities will operate holiday hours. Ray’s Splash Planet will open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Marion Diehl pool is closed for renovations. 

Spraygrounds will open for the season on Friday, May 24. Outdoor pools and Ramsey Creek Beach will open on Saturday, May 25. 

City of Charlotte Solid Waste Services will provide collection services on a regular schedule the week of April 19, 2019. If you are in a town, please check with your local service for a collection schedule.  

 As a reminder, CharMeck 311 is open and available to the public Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
