Community Development Block Grant Citizen Meetings and Notice of Funding Availability

To All Interested Agencies, Groups, and Persons:

For Program Year 2018 (FY 2018-2019), Mecklenburg County anticipates receiving an allocation of $625,000 in funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. To receive funds, the County must file an Action Plan, which includes the resources and activities to address housing, economic development, and community development issues.

Two public meetings have been scheduled to obtain views and proposals from citizens at the initial stage of preparing the Action Plan and to enable citizens the opportunity to comment on the County’s community development programs and performance. Your ideas on projects to be funded by the grant are welcome and encouraged. Examples of eligible activities are street repairs, social service programs, historic preservation, residential rehabilitation, demolition, code enforcement, sewer and waterlines, and property acquisition. These activities must primarily benefit lower income persons. Anyone interested in applying for funds should attend the meeting to receive an application package. The application packet can also be downloaded here.
