Mecklenburg County anticipates receiving $750,000 from the U.S. Dept. of HUD for the Community Development Block Grant program. To receive funds, the County must file an Action Plan, which includes the resources and activities to address housing, economic development, and community development issues.
A public meeting has been scheduled for Jan. 15 from 3-4 p.m. at the Government Center to obtain views and proposals from citizens at the initial stage of preparing the Action Plan and to enable citizens the opportunity to comment on the County’s community development programs and performance.
Your ideas on projects to be funded by the grant are welcome and encouraged. Examples of eligible activities are street repairs, social service programs, residential rehabilitation, demolition, code enforcement, sewer and waterlines, and property acquisition. These activities must primarily benefit lower income persons. Anyone interested in applying for funds should attend the meeting.
The Notice of Funding Availability and the FY 2019-20 application for funding can be found here.
