Litter Gitter Pilot Program Press Conference
Mecklenburg County Stormwater Services, the City of Charlotte, Coca-Cola Consolidated, Envision Charlotte and the Osprey Initiative will hold a press conference Tuesday to announce the new "Litter Gitter" pilot program. The goal of the program is to remove recyclable materials and other litter from the County's streams, while also gathering data and finding sustainable solutions for the future.The press conference will be held at Alexander Street Park at 10 a.m.Mecklenburg County's Land Use and Environmental Services Agency and Park and Recreation Department are significant contributors to the project by providing guidance and leadership, as well as providing solid waste facilities and access to 3 Litter Gitter installation sites along greenways at Alexander Street Park, Ray's Splash Planet, and Revolution Park.

Final Community Budget Workshop Wednesday
Mecklenburg County will host the final Community Budget Workshop for the Fiscal Year 21 budget season Wednesday at the Sportsplex in Matthews.The workshop is the last of four workshops that were held in various regions of the County during the month of February. The workshop series was created to provide an additional way for residents to share their priorities as planning gets underway for the FY21 budget. County Manager Dena R. Diorio and Budget Director Michael Bryant will attend the event. The workshop is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. State of the County Address Wednesday
Chair George Dunlap will deliver his State of the County Address for 2020 Wednesday. The address will take place on Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. in the Chamber of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center.The Chair will give an overview of the County's accomplishments for Fiscal Year 20 as well as outline his goals and vision for the upcoming year.The event will be livestreamed on MeckNC.gov.
