Big Shots Saturday Rescheduled for Oct. 27

child getting immunizationThe Big Shots Saturday back-to-school immunization clinic that was canceled due to Hurricane Florence preparations (originally scheduled for Sept. 15), has been rescheduled for Oct. 27, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Mecklenburg County Public Health Department, 249 Billingsley Rd.

Recognizing that many families were affected by the storms, the State extended the immunization deadline. Students whose first day of school fell between Aug. 20 and Oct. 2, 2018 now have until Nov. 1 to provide proof of the required health assessment and/or immunizations.

As a reminder, North Carolina law mandates that all school-aged children be up-to-date with certain immunizations in order to attend school. Children who do not provide proof of the minimum required immunizations may be excluded.

Key points:

  • ALL school-aged children are eligible to receive vaccines at this event, regardless of insurance status.
  • Please bring your child’s previous immunization records.
  • If your child has insurance, please bring the insurance card. (Medicaid, NC Health Choice or other private insurance).
    • Payment may be required with some private insurance plans.

Immunizations are always available at Public Health by appointment by calling 704-336-6500.
