​BOCC Set to Vote on Budget Tonight

BOCCThe Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners will officially vote on the Manager’s Fiscal Year 2019 Recommended Budget at 6 p.m. tonight in the meeting chamber of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center.

Last week, the Board made slight adjustments to the budget during its straw vote.

Adjustments include:

Education

  • CMS Teacher Supplement: one-time funding of $6.9 million is funded with FY2018 lapsed salaries to support CMS teacher salaries.
  • CMS Security Upgrades: one-time funding of $4.6 million in the Manager’s Recommended Budget is funded in restricted contingency until CMS presents a plan for use of the funds.


 

County Services

  • Park and Recreation: one-time funding of $200,000 for the removal of invasive plant species in 39 parks.
  • Community Support Services: ongoing funding of $50,000 for homeless resource services is funded to assist the City’s emergency operations with homeless populations.

Fiscal Year 2019 begins July 1, 2018 and ends June 30, 2019.
