​At Home COVID-19 Test Kit Distribution Resumes Feb. 7 at Designated Library and Public Health Locations

Starting Monday, Feb. 7County residents can once again get free at-home COVID-19 tests at designated library branches and health department locations. Mecklenburg County Public Health (MCPH) received an additional supply of COVID-19 rapid antigen home testing kits earlier this week. 

 

“We are pleased to be able to continue our partnership with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Library to better serve residents who are facing barriers to getting tested for COVID,” said Dr. Raynard Washington, MCPH Director. 

 

Test kits are available via curbside pick-up at designated library branches and health department locations. One test will be provided to each County resident at no cost.No ID or insurance is required. Tests will be available while supplies last with a maximum of four tests per household. No appointment is necessarySince at-home test kits do not require clinical supervision, a prescription from a health care provider is not required.

Visit the When You Should Be Testedpage for up-to-date information about distribution locations and availability. Find a free testing site near you by visiting the NCDHHS Find My Testing Place page or using the MCPH COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination Sites map. Free tests are also available at COVIDTests.gov. If you are having difficulty visiting a local testing site, you can also purchase at-home COVID-19 test kits online or at local pharmacies. Availability for kits in stores and online has recently improved.
