Meet Melinda Medina

"Against The Odds."

Come take a journey through one former foster youth's unyielding determination and true resiliency on her path to success.

Meet Morris Morrison

"Fearless & Focused-Child Welfare 2.0 Program."

This workshop will inspire our youth to live fearlessly, he will help care-givers refocus their impact, and help child welfare professionals & administrators leave reenergized. This program will touch the hearts of audiences with a consistent message that will help everyone stay on the same page, so that all children and families in the child welfare system can enjoy a better experience.

 Meet Willie Moore Jr

"You Are Not a Mistake."

This workshop is specifically designed for youth ages 12-17 years old who have been, or are going through, challenges regarding being in foster care. You are not a mistake! Nobody knows the identity crisis that sometimes goes on within a child in foster care or an adopted child. We will clearly define why our lives matter and why we are an elite group of children and not "second class." This message will inspire and be a lesson of  resilience where you can redefine your identity. Willie Moore Jr. is going to  "Keep It 100" Flat Out!

Level Up: A Panel for Empowerment & Permanence

This informative panel will offer youth the opportunity to hear firsthand accounts of the experiences of former foster youth who achieved permanency with the help of supportive adults, either through aging out of care or adoption.  The panelists will share the insights, triumphs, and struggles encountered in their journey to adulthood and provide the audience with practical information to aid in their own journey to permanence and beyond.  Youth will also have the opportunity to participate in a question and answer session, all designed to educate and empower them as they continue to navigate their own individual process of levelling up to achieve a bright, fulfilling future.

The Adult Speakers/Workshops are for the adults accompanying the youth to the conference.

Morning  Adult Speaker
Meet Derek Clark

"You cannot think negative thoughts about a youth and expect them to live a positive life."

Derek  takes you down his road of hate, anger, mistrust in adults, violent tendencies, rejection, lack of love, child abuse and the memories that haunted his life. He believes that by changing the way you look at a youth, you can significantly impact their life. Your actions will speak louder than your words.

Derek provides insight and specific tools that will assist professionals and parents  in connecting with vulnerable and grieving youth. Professionals will gain understanding and knowledge about childhood responses to traumatic experiences, how to ask questions that build trust and shape futures. Every professional working with challenging youth has a purpose; to build a relationship of trust, to help them to reclaim their dignity and self-value, and to know that their past mistakes do not have to infect their future.

Consequences don't change youth, relationships change youth. He shares with you how to commit and build upon your strengths when encouraging youth to have hope and the belief that their best days are still ahead of them.

Afternoon Adult Speaker
