Youth and Family Services

The Youth and Family Services Division provides services and information to protect children by strengthening the capacity for self-sufficiency of families whose children’s health, welfare and safety are at risk.

  • Intake Services:  Receives and screens child protective service referrals.

 

  • Child Protective Services Investigations:  Conducts investigations and family assessments on cases identified as meeting the statutory definitions of abuse, neglect or dependency, engaging the family to formulate a plan to alleviate any identified risk factors.

 

  • Family Interventions:  Serves families where abuse, neglect, and/or dependency was substantiated or the family was determined to be in need of services to prevent children from being taken into custody, reduce risk, and alleviate well being concerns.

 

  • Permanency Planning:  The goal of this intervention for children in legal custody is to provide a safe and nurturing home for the child and work towards a permanent plan.

 

  • Adoptions:  A program that works with children who are legally cleared for adoption to find permanent homes.

 

  • Resource Development:  Recruits, trains, and licenses foster homes as well as working with contact agencies to provide an array of placement options and services for children in legal custody.
