Affordable Housing Program

The Office of the Tax Collector (OTC) developed a program for affordable housing as part of its overall Tax Foreclosure Strategy.  The program seeks to provide grants to purchase properties at foreclosure auction as well as utilize foreclosed properties for affordable housing.  It represents a portion of the overall affordable housing strategy for Mecklenburg County.  In developing its Affordable Housing Program, the OTC identified 4 Methods of Assistance ( click each image for a description):

Reimbursement Grant

Provides county funds to qualified organizations or agencies who bid on and win tax foreclosure property. Funds are paid after the deed is recorded to reimburse the organization or agency.
