Real Estate Recording
We will have
limited staff available onsite to record real estate documents.
Real Estate Recording: It is suggested that attorneys utilize e-recording with one of our vendors (Simplifile, CSC, and EPN) if possible. Due to limited staffing and observance of public health guidelines, please expect delays if visiting our office.
Assumed Name Registration: Assumed Name Documents will be processed by mail only. Research for assumed names can be conducted
online.
The
Register of Deeds is elected by the people and serves a four-year term. This office records, indexes, and stores all real estate and business related documents that are presented for registration. This office also issues marriage licenses and handles Notary commissions and military discharge recordings. In addition this office provides certified copies of recorded documents including birth and death records in accordance with NC statute.

Office Hours:
The Register of Deeds office is open to serve the public from
8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each week day.
When the office is open, the
public may search the public records from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the vault area.
We are unable to record documents presented after 4:30 p.m.
