About Senior Games

What is Senior Games?

Senior Games
Senior Games was established to promote health and wellness for persons 50 and better.  Senior Games provides a forum to meet new people, enjoy healthy competition, be creative and most importantly to HAVE FUN!  Senior Games is NOT what you do compared to someone else, but what YOU do compared to what you are capable of doing.  Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation could not offer the local Senior Games without the support and guidance of the Coordinating Agencies:
  • YMCA of Greater Charlotte
  • Levine Jewish Community Center
  • Levine Senior Center
  • Matthews Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resource Department

Why Senior Games?

  • To participate in health and wellness activities.
  • To meet new people with an interest in leading a healthy and active lifestyle.
  • To have an opportunity to compete.
  • To encourage and expand creative skills through SilverArts.
  • To be involved.
  • To have FUN, FUN, FUN!

Who Is Eligible?

Charlotte Mecklenburg Senior Games holds athletic and artistic competitions in April and May of each year.  Participants must be 50 years of age or better and must reside in North Carolina at least 3 consecutive months of the year.  Registration forms must be postmarked by March 20 each year to participate.

Get Involved!

Senior Games is a wonderful experience.  Everyone knows someone who is 50 or better who could benefit from participating in Senior Games.  Keep in mind, you don't have to be an athlete to be involved!
Individuals compete for awards in their own SEX and AGE CATEGORY within five year increments. (50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-99, 100+)

Other Ways to be Involved:
Be a Volunteer - CMSG needs over 200 volunteers during the games.  There are many ways to volunteer.  To learn more about volunteering for the games, click here.

Be a Spectator - We are proud of the athletic and artistic achievements of the CMSG participants.  Come view their artwork or cheer as they "GO FOR THE GOLD!"

Host a Presentation - If your organization would like to learn more about Senior Games and the Wellness Program, please call Michelle Hitselberger at 704-989-3617.  A speaker from the CMSG Speakers Bureau will come to your group meeting and talk about the great opportunities offered by Senior Games and SilverArts.  This is a great presentation for a  luncheon gathering.   CMSG can provide a short program with event examples.

For More Information - If you would like to leave a message or request to be added to the CMSG mailing list, please call the CMSG Hotline at 704-332-4020.
