The recreational therapy/therapeutic recreation internship program with Therapeutic and Inclusive Recreation Services of Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is a hands on, in-person internship experience, not virtual. Please send any required application agreement paperwork from your college/university with your application.
About Therapeutic and Inclusive Recreation Services (TIRS)
TIRS of Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is one of the largest community-based TR programs in the state of North Carolina. TIRS currently employs 9 full-time professional staff who are licensed by the State of North Carolina through NCBRTL, and certified nationally as a CTRS through NCTRC.
Applications will be accepted during the following timelines:
Internship beginning in January (Spring 2023): August 1 - September 30, 2022
Internship beginning in May (Summer 2023): January 1, 2023 - February 28, 2023

Internship beginning in August (Fall 2023): March 1 - April 30, 2023
Students interested in applying for an internship must electronically submit PRK Temp-Non Lifeguard Hiring Packet, TIRS Intern Application Supplemental Questionnaire, cover letter, resume, and 2-3 letters of reference (one academic, 1-2 professional) to: TRinfo@MeckNC.gov
