Greenways and Trails
Sierra Loop Trail at Reedy Creek Nature Preserve will be closed near the bridge complex for streambank restoration work on December 9-10.
Contractors for Charlotte Water are continuing construction work for the Little Hope Creek Wastewater Improvement Project. Once completed, the project will ehance the wastewater system in the community and protect the water quality in the creek. Crews are currently working at Tyvola Road at the edge of Marion Diehl Park up to Seneca Place. As part of this work, the Buckingham Drive connection to the Little Sugar Creek Greenway is closed for 12-16 weeks. During this time, greenway users should use established parking and access points at 2524 Tyvola Road and Park Road Park.
Additionally, the lower portion of the Marion Diehl loop of the Backyard Trails (BYT) will be closed until early 2022. The construction of the wastewater line signficantly impacts this trail; however, Charlotte Water is working closely with the Tarheel Trailblazers on a plan for post-construction trail restoration.
