The South Prong & West Branch Rocky River Greenways network adds up to 4 miles of greenway trails and 5.17 miles of Overland
Connectors. The South Prong Rocky River Greenway connects downtown Davidson with neighborhoods to the southeast along the South Prong of the Rocky River through the River Run development via overland connectors to West Branch Rocky River Greenway ending at the West Branch Nature Preserve. These greenways are part of the Mecklenburg County Greenway System and are operated by the Town of Davidson. West Branch Rocky River Greenway includes a site-fabricated wooden bridge and boardwalk through a fern covered hillside and is a designated leg of the Carolina Thread Trail.
