​COVID-19 & Use of Park and Recreation Facilities 

For the health and safety of our staff and visitors, Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is limiting access to many of our facilities.  When you head out to enjoy our beautiful parks, greenways, nature preserves and other facilities, we ask that you follow CDC guidelines, as well as executive orders from Governor Roy Cooper and directives from the Mecklenburg County Public Health Department.

Parks, greenways and nature preserves remain open for public use.  Programs continue to be offered on a limited basis.  

  • Outdoor facilities will be open for use under normal hours, including lighted facilities.
  • Aquatic and fitness amenities at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center and Eastway Regional Recreation Center will be available by reservation.
  • Fitness centers are open for use by reservation only.
  • Reservations for athletic fields will be accepted with restrictions.
  • Indoor shelters are open for reservations with capacity requirements.
  • Outdoor shelters are open for reservations.
  • Reservations for camping at McDowell Nature Preserve are being accepted.
  • Skate parks at Naomi Drenan Recreation Center and Renaissance Park are open.
