About Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation (MCPR)

The Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department is home to 230 parks and facilities located on more than 21,000 acres of parkland throughout Mecklenburg County. The department offers something for everyone, including:

  • 256 miles of trails
  • 250 athletic fields
  • 190+ playgrounds
  • 160 picnic shelters and pavilions
  • 162 tennis courts
  • 111 basketball courts
  • 44 volleyball courts
  • 21 nature preserves
  • 18 recreation centers
  • 14 disc golf courses
  • 7 public golf facilities
  • 6 dog parks
  • 3 indoor pools
  • 3 nature centers
  • 2 outdoor pools
  • A public campground and much more!
